4 Exercises in 4 Minutes! Exercise is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. It can be very difficult to stay healthy during these uncertain times. Even if you are in quarantine because of coronavirus, you can still get in a great workout for your cardiovascular system, core, and to improve your posture. No equipment is necessary, and you don't need a lot of space either. I understand that time is a precious resource for each of us. While the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) specific recommendations for exercise (up to 300 minutes per week of moderate aerobic activity PLUS 2 sessions per week of strength training), I know that they are difficult to reach for many people, especially working adults. If you work 8 hours a day, commute for 2 hours, need 8 hours of sleep, that's only 6 hours of "free time". During this free time, you need to balance your grocery shopping, cooking, laundry, family obligations, and time to just unwind! As a Sports Medicine physician, I of course am siding with the HHS. However, as a normal guy, I know that is not always realistic. Something is better than nothing, right? Yes, but why don't we maximize our efforts? No matter how busy we are, we should each have at least 4 minutes to do some exercise. No matter how active you are currently, everyone can stand to benefit from these exercises. I go over the various techniques so you get an EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT, and SAFE workout. If you are just starting out, you can slow down the pace. If you are the body-builder type, then these can serve as warm ups at the minimum. Gamers - how long is the queue for your next game? My goal is to show everyone ways to work out multiple systems and body areas simultaneously in a short period of time, again with no or little equipment needed.
